Frequently asked

The questions owners ask before they call.

Short answers, the arithmetic where there is any, and a link to the longer version when one exists.

$250, credited 100% toward any work you hire us for. 60 to 90 minutes, at your place anywhere in the Kansas City metro.

Sharkitect Digital is an AI Transformation Agency in Kansas City, Missouri. We work with service businesses of roughly 5 to 30 people: contractors, flooring and remodeling, HVAC and plumbing, other trades, and small professional firms. We map how a business actually runs, then connect the tools it already pays for so a number is entered once instead of twice. The first step is the Architecture Assessment: 60 to 90 minutes at your place anywhere in the Kansas City metro, or remote anywhere else in the US. It costs $250, credited in full toward any work you hire us for, and you keep the written map either way. A person approves anything that prices a job or reaches a customer.

Working with us

What does Sharkitect Digital actually do?

We find where the hours leak in a contracting business and close the leaks that are worth closing. In practice that usually means connecting software you already pay for, so the same number stops being typed into two systems, or so a lead gets an answer in minutes instead of hours. We diagnose before we build, and when we share a result, we show how we counted it. The one result so far: one Kansas City contractor stopped about 37 hours a month of retyping estimates.

Are you an AI consultant, an agency, or a software company?

Not a consultant in the way most people mean it. Consultants hand you a recommendation and invoice for it. We map how your business actually runs, then build the connection or the automation ourselves, and a person on our side owns it working. If you want a strategy deck and nothing built, we're the wrong choice, and we'll say so in the first conversation. Here is how the three options compare.

Who will I actually work with?

Christopher Sharkey, who founded the company. Before this he spent about a decade as a healthcare Performance Improvement Specialist. It's the same job in a different building: watch how work actually moves, measure it, and remove the steps that are there for no reason. More about how we work.

How small is too small?

If you do a handful of estimates or a handful of leads a month, the retyping and the slow replies aren't costing you enough to pay anyone to fix them. We'll tell you that rather than sell you something. As a rule of thumb, the math starts working somewhere around five people.

Is this going to turn into a long contract?

No. We build in phases with a 90-day proof point, and the relationship continues only if the numbers say it should. You own what we build and the logins to it. If you stop, you keep the system and the written map.

What if my real problem is somewhere else?

Then the Assessment says so and you haven't spent a build budget finding out. Slow follow-up is frequently the loudest problem rather than the biggest one; the same is true of estimating. The map ranks the leaks by what they cost, not by what you noticed first.

Cost and the Architecture Assessment

What does the Architecture Assessment cost?

$250, credited 100% toward any work you hire us for. If you hire us afterward, it comes straight off the first invoice. If you don't, you keep the written map. We charge because a free session has to end in a pitch to pay for itself, and we'd rather spend the time looking at how your business runs.

How long does it take, and what do I need to prepare?

60 to 90 minutes, depending on how many moving parts you have. Prepare nothing special. Have the tools you use every day open, and be ready to walk one real job from the first phone call to the paid invoice. Mostly we watch and ask questions.

Do I have to buy anything afterward?

No. The report is yours either way. Some of what it finds you can do yourself, and it says how. We can build what's genuinely beyond you, and the $250 credits toward that. Plenty of Assessments end with a list of settings to change in software you already own.

How much does automation cost for a small business?

Nobody can quote it honestly without seeing your operation. What you pay for the AI itself is usually the cheapest part. The number comes from four things: how many systems the work touches, how clean the data is, how many exceptions there are, and how often a person has to approve a step. This post walks through the four drivers and shows how to estimate your own range in an afternoon.

Why don't you publish prices for builds?

Because a price quoted before anyone has looked at your systems is a guess, and you'd be paying for the guess. The Assessment exists so the number you get is built from your estimate volume, your tools and your exceptions. The one price we do publish is the Assessment itself.

Kansas City and local work

Who does business process automation for contractors in Kansas City?

We do, and we're based here. Sharkitect Digital maps how a contracting business actually runs and builds the connections between the tools it already pays for: the job platform, the scheduler, the accounting software. Our first published case study is a Kansas City flooring and remodeling contractor. Here is what that work looks like for a contractor.

Do you actually come to us?

Yes, anywhere in the metro, and we'd rather do it that way. You see more standing in someone's office than you do on a screen share. The Assessment is 60 to 90 minutes at your place.

Which parts of the metro?

Both sides of the state line and the surrounding suburbs: Overland Park, Olathe, Lee's Summit, Independence, Lenexa, Shawnee, Leawood, Prairie Village, Liberty and Blue Springs. Just outside that? Ask. The answer is usually yes.

Do you work with businesses outside Kansas City?

Yes, remotely, across the US, and we have since day one. The systems are the same everywhere; the only thing that changes is whether we can stand in your office for the first 90 minutes.

How soon can you come out?

Often the same week; the booking page shows the next open slot. Book directly or call (816) 443-0826 and we will find a time, including early or late if that is when your day allows it.

Your tools, AI, and what actually gets built

Do we have to replace our software?

Almost never, and we'd rather you didn't. The point is to use what you already pay for and make it talk to itself. Your crew learned those tools the hard way, and making them start over is a cost, not a fix.

Does monday.com integrate with QuickBooks?

Partly. monday.com's own integration is one-way for the part most contractors care about: customers go out to QuickBooks, invoices come back, and the invoice itself is still typed by hand. Here is exactly what moves between the tools, what does not, and what the gap costs.

Do I need an AI agent or an automation?

Most small businesses need an automation. If the work follows the same steps every time, it's an automation: cheaper, more predictable, easier to check. An AI agent earns its place when the input is messy, such as reading an email and deciding what it is asking for. The guide explains the difference and how to tell which one you are looking at.

What happens when it gets something wrong?

That's a design decision, not an accident. Anything a customer sees or that moves money gets a person's approval before it goes out, and every run is logged so you can see what happened. When a tool changes and a connection breaks, it should tell you. Monitoring and a run record are part of the build, not an add-on.

Will automated follow-up make us sound like a robot?

Only if it reads like a template. A good message mentions the specific job the customer described. It arrives in minutes, and a person takes over the moment they reply. That doesn't read like a robot. It reads like a company that was paying attention. Here is how to do it without sounding like one.

Can we build this ourselves?

Frequently, yes, especially the first one. If you have somebody comfortable in Zapier or Make and the job is simple, start there. The guide gives you the five steps. Owners tend to call us at the second or third connection, when the exceptions pile up and nobody owns keeping it running.

Still have a question? Ask it in person.

60 to 90 minutes at your place, anywhere in the Kansas City metro, or remote anywhere else in the US. Bring one real job and we will follow it from the first phone call to the paid invoice.

$250. You leave with what's slowing you down, what it costs, and what the fix is. It credits in full toward any work you hire us for.
